I was born and raised was here in Kansas. At a young age, I took a great interest in art, and it easily became my favortie subject in school. One of my favorite forms of the medium is drawing, in which I mainly use charcoal and pastels. The ability to use such dark values, a strong contrast, and with relative ease, alter its value scale is something that is alluring to me. The subjects in these pieces are usually figurative.
One of my hobbies that started at a young age was watching sports, particularly football and basketball. Apart from the action, what interested me most about this as as a child were the team colors and designs, like the extravagant work that appeared to be put in a Super Bowl logo every year or the nearly cartoon-like uniforms that were seen in the NBA at that time. These over-the-top designs were what inspired me to be an artist above all else. It made me sit down at my desk and make up fantasy sports league just to have fun and make new logos. Over time, Art began to mean more to me. My work since then has been exhibited at the Eisenhower Middle School and the Manhattan High School, Manhattan, KS, when a small watercolor painting of a sunflower was included in an Early Expressions exhibition.
Five years ago, I decided to concentrate in graphic design at Kansas State University. Creating logos in Photoshop was and still is one of my favorite things to do in my spare time. However, when the program did not accept my application, I decided to take my concentration in drawing. Currently, I am working as a freelance designer as a side-position in order to build my portfolio.
